Sahar J.'s Bio
I was born in Peshawar, Pakistan in the 80s as one of the millions of Afghan refugees. My family fled Afghanistan during the Cold War, and in the mid-90s, we emigrated to Canada. This narrative and experience has had immense influence in shaping my path as an artist, educator, and academic. The Beauty Way has become an exploration of my soul to find ways to create a feeling of connection, belonging and reparation in the face of displacement, trauma, exhile and isolation. It is through creativity that I have found a way to belong, to come home inside my heart and find ways through the arts to create new stories, to mourn losses of great despair, and to find a way to have vision and hope.

It was during a Visioning Retreat in Januray of 2013, that I received the message from my soul, "creativity is my medicine". Back then, I had no idea that I would become an Intentional Creativity™ Coach and Teacher by the end of 2014! I began working with The Artist's Way in 2012, as part of my journey towards Self-Love and search for deeper meaning and a different possiblity. I was in search of The Beauty Way, but I didn't know that is what it was called back then. I wrote poetry as a form of self expression, but rarly did I work with color or image. I started to dabble with Dollar Store art supplies, the tiny acrylic paint tubes and small canvases, and resorted mostly to finger painting. Something was there for me, I just didn't know how to access it, or to bring it out to myself and to others. I received my way of entry, my access through the Intentional Creativity™ Method and my Color of Woman Teacher training program and my Guild of Intentional Creativity community!

My art is an expression of my soul's longing to be expressed, and as I make my journey deep in the landscapes of human consciousness, from my own position, and shared among many other beings, there is a way that what comes out becomes both a teaching and a teacher, illuminating insights that are difficult to access in any other way. It's that dance between word, color and image that makes possible a different point of access and entry into spaces of in-form-ation, that allow for new possibilities to be realized and worked towards manifestation. My paintings are prayers for tending to the potential space of possibilities that the destructive drives in our selves and in our world can so easily act upon and aim to destroy. I create as a practice of inquiry, travelling, and receiving information regarding whatever the inquiry is, and finding ways to preserve and embrace beauty in our world, in the midst of the suffering.

I've been admiring Sahar's paintings for ages. I finally asked about purchasing one of her pieces. It was lovely in picture but when I received it! Wow!! I was blown away at the beauty and soulfulness of her work. I hung her in my favourite room in my house, and start my day looking at her. Purchasing her was a gift to me in many ways: aesthetically and energetically. I feel GOOD when I look at her. The caps are intentional.

I began working with Christine Arylo in 2012, by finding her invitation to her Pheonix Rising program. I have ever since known she is one of my mentors and soul sisters on this path of creative, sacred, visionary empowered living. I owe so much to her for her teachings, support, love and guidance throughout these years. I remember being in San Francisco for my 1 on 1 retreat with her in November of 2012, where she reminded me that there was a whole other way of living and life that could be possible, and since then I have been living transformed in ways I had not imagined before that point. It is mentors like her that inspire me to give my great work out into the world and know that it can be done from joy, from sacredness, beauty, love, wisdom, and fierce grace. My work with her has helped me develop so many of my own gifts, and the courage of commitment from heart and soul of giving shape, langauge form and expression to my life's work from inside out! It brings me so much joy and excitement to bring the teachings and wisdom I have gathered in my journeys with her to all the beloveds that I work with and that I am here to serve. It's mentor's and catalysts like Christine who remind me of the power of mentorship, the power of community and the power of our work as feminine leaders stepping out to weave new realities and visions from our heart and soul.
